Great insight, Mike. I've been fascinated year after year by the phenomenon of "black friday" as embraced by the American consumer. Yes, people have shopped the day after thanksgiving for some time. However, in my years I've seen it transmogrify into a marketing behemoth, while consumers spend their paychecks with a smile. Why? Because it has a clever title. At some point big box stores caught on and pushed it even harder. In turn, the masses opened wide and gobbled it up.
The advent of cyber monday is a curious one. Will the online consumer prove to be more savvy and see through the BS? I've got my hand on my wallet, keeping it shut.
