President, EPiServer, Inc.
EPiServer worked with GameChangers in order to introduce new ways of communicating with our customers and prospects. This was a high-energy, highly interactive session which included several improvisation activities. In one week I’ve already seen the impact of these sessions on our sales….a real game changer!
SVP Operations & Co-Founder
CREDANT Technologies, Inc.
An absolutely wonderful session. Very relevant to the changing economic climate and non-linear sales world we live in today. The ability to listen well and improvise is important now more than ever.
Professor, NYU Stern School of Business
For the past two years, Mike has conducted GameChangers workshops in my MBA classes at the University of California-Irvine and at NYU. The focus has been on what he calls the improvised brand narrative, and on the changing nature of communication in a highly mediated business environment. The workshops, which last about half a day, are always a great experience for the students. They are team-focused, and deal with elements of branding and communication that, in my opinion, our business schools usually neglect: the emotional and meta meaning, and the sense of purpose that inform and energize brands in the marketplace.
The workshops he does for us conclude with short presentations made by each team, in which they communicate their brand's essence and intention to the rest of the class. In these presentations, I see a level of performance that, for many students, surpasses anything they have done prior to the workshops.
Mike and I continue to collaborate, and are co-authoring an article for the Harvard Business Review that combines theories and practices around edge economies and innovation, which I teach, with the GameChangers concepts of improvisation for business.
You'll be making a solid decision by having him conduct your workshop.
Director, Talent & Strategy, Diversey Inc.
Mike Bonifer asked that I reach out to share with you a bit about my experiences working with him and GameChangers. Mike and I first connected when I was working at CIT and I've found him to be an open and responsive partner over the past few years. He truly models the concepts that he shares in his programs. I manage global executive leadership programs for over 10 years and also at my current organization Johnson Diversey. We recently used GameChangers for our senior most leadership program. During that session I was amazed.
We had 25 business leader participants from across the globe fully engaged in practicing improvisational concepts, role plays and business applications focused on how our culture and environment was being experienced today and how we can improve it going forward. In addition to the practical activities, what particularly resonated with the group was the need to speak with a clear leadership voice and to speak to the hearts and the minds of employees.
The models that Mike shared helped the group to focus with purpose around delivering messages and also to explore ways that they could individually own these messages while aligning with the corporate mission. The program was extremely interactive and received positive feedback with a tough audience. Since every audience and program is different, the other thing that I very much appreciated was that when there were changes in dynamics in the energy in the room Mike would pick up on it and would make adjustments to maintain momentum and engagement.
CEO, Control Room
Co-founder, Live Earth
Mike and I have known each other for 20 years and he was integral in the launch of Network LIVE (which became Control Room) in 2005. He has been an important part of my business life and served as the Chief Storyteller for our global Live Earth event on 07.07.07.
I have read GameChangers and participated in a couple of workshops. I believe Mike has developed in GameChangers a powerful way of understanding and guiding a brand’s narrative in a complex communications environment. Personally, I have found the workshops to be useful in expanding my ability to communicate effectively.
Mike would be a welcome addition to any organization attempting to improve its communication and storytelling ability.
General Manager, U.S., Dare Interactive
(Formerly VP, Golin Harris Public Relations)
It's all about the human touch. They [GameChangers] give managers the tools to turn great experiences into business results.
GameChangers literally has changed the game as it relates to helping brands understand what it take to carry on realtime narratives in this always-on social media dominated world. Any agency charged with content marketing and/or brand storytelling strategies on behalf of their clients needs to seriously consider engaging Mike and his team. I have brought GameChangers in to lead workshops for my largest clients globally over the last 5 years and have walked away with 100% client satisfaction. Why? They are one of the only consultancies that offer a proprietary system and hands-on training that teaches key personnel on the frontlines of customer engagement, how to collaborate in real-time and generate maximum business results.
VP, Marketing, Sprinklr
Sprinklr is the leading independent social relationship platform for large brands. We help them manage their experiences across every touchpoint across channels, teams, departments, divisions, and locations. The kind of people who hire Sprinklr are innovators, discerning, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo.
We host events for our clients to help them share experiences with each other and are always looking for new ways to create engaging moments for them. We brought GameChangers in to do a rapid-fire business improv session to keep the energy going, create an interactive summary of the day, and provide people with a tangible takeaway from the day.
Now, we’ve done nearly 25 of these events around the world and I can confidently say that because of GameChangers’ activity, we created one of the most exciting, memorable, and fun wrap-up sessions we have ever had. The event is over but people are still talking (and tweeting!) about it.
I cannot recommend them enough for their skills and we will definitely have them come back again in the future.
Partner, Mavin Group
I was fortunate enough to participate in 3 of Mike's workshops. He is pioneering a methodology for the next generation of highly effective people. The key to his principals is to develop a mind that quickly adopts to change and then uses it ways unseen before. It's about living in the moment and seeing how that applies to business. The most important aspect for me was discovering a way of living a more rewarding life. It was a set of extraordinary experiences I would highly recommend to anyone interested in taking their life up a few notches.
Howard E. Green
Vice President, Communications
Walt Disney Animation Studios
As a longtime vice president in the communications area for The Walt Disney Studios, I have had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Mike Bonifer on numerous occasions. It is for that reason that I feel qualified to recommend him as a worthy candidate to conduct a storytelling workshop for your organization, Counterpart International. In fact, Mike is one of the best storytellers/communicators I know. He is knowledgeable on a variety of subjects ranging from the inner workings of Hollywood, to the vicissitudes of Silicon Valley. He has ridden the wave of popular cultural trends, and he has played a key role in the success of several Silicon Valley Companies. His book, “GameChangers – Improvisation for Business in the Networked World,” is a brilliant work that encourages us to think outside the box, and explore new ways of working and thinking in today’s rapidly changing world. Mike is intuitive, intelligent, and innovative. And he is one of the funniest and most engaging storytellers I have ever met.
Mike and I launched our careers here at Disney in the late 70s, and he would regale us with stories about growing up in Indiana, and other observations about life in general. In addition to being a great speaker, he is also a terrific writer. During those early days at Disney, he was responsible for writing the press materials for such major films as “Tron,” “Dick Tracy,” “The Black Hole,” etc. His ability to inform and educate in an entertaining manner has always been one of his greatest strengths. After leaving Disney, he went on to use those storytelling skills in a variety of manners. As the producer of the cable series, Disney Family Album, he told the stories of the men and women who helped to create the Disney legacy. Those shows have become important time capsules for the history of the Studio, and the entertainment industry as well. He also helped share the narrative about Disney films with the press and public in his role as a producer of many electronic press kit materials.
Over the course of his career, Mike has worked with many different divisions of Disney, and has helped them to show how a brand can tell a story. He is an expert at helping people from different cultures, often with divergent business goals, understand how they can contribute to and participate in a story.
As you can probably tell, I am an enthusiastic supporter and admirer of GameChangers. I know that he would be an inspiration to anyone attending a GameChangers workshop.
Vice President, ABRO Industries, Inc.
ABRO Industries is an international marketing company that currently does $150,000,000 of overseas business in 175 countries.
I had the opportunity to participate in a “Game Changers For Sales” program last year and I was very impressed with the sales dynamics that were involved in the program.
Earlier this year, I took a three-week overseas trip to Africa and utilized some of the techniques that were demonstrated at the workshop in dealing with various customers during my trip which I believe assisted me to build a better relationship with many of my customers. By using some of the specialized techniques that were offered at the workshop, I found myself able to improvise more naturally and freely with my customers during our discussions as I truly was able to see more clearly the unique needs of my overseas customers which are so important in selling.
I did see a 30% increase in sales on my last overseas trip and I fully plan on using the various methods emphasized at the “Game Changers for Sales” workshop on future overseas trips as well as back here in the United States when dealing with domestic suppliers.
I strongly recommend anyone to attend a “Game Changers for Sales” workshop as it will certainly enhance one’s ability to interact more freely with their customer base which should result in increased sales and help build better customer relationships.
I just finished your GameChangers book last night; really impressed, and it spoke to my heart.
At times I felt like it was written just for me, full of lessons, warnings, thoughts, directions. Really enjoyed it.
Project Team Manager, Skype
Before we started our week of training with Mike and GameChangers we had no idea what to expect. The first day made not much sense to many of the participants while I instantly knew that these will be a very useful five days. By the end of the training the team indeed came to feel like a team, not like individual contributors, which helped us later to overcome hard times without internal tensions.
Managing Director, Information Technology at United Airlines
GameChangers drives our thinking to new heights with creative ideas and moves them forward with energy and great partner relationships. They advance my thinking each time we work together.
CEO, Milestone Communications
Last spring I engaged GameChangers to help develop an inspirational speech based on a book I've written about high performing mission driven teams, like the one that supported me racing my bicycle 3,000 miles across the USA in eleven days to raise resources for, Hopecam, a charity I founded.
Mike and his team transformed my story to be more relatable, memorable and authentic. Their work sharpened the focus of my message and broadened the connectivity to a host of business audiences that will allow me to raise even more resources for the growth of the charity.
Mike has a natural ability to distill complex ideas into heartfelt anecdotes that stick with my listeners. His skills were exactly what I needed to achieve a higher level as a speaker and storyteller.
Director - Regional, Grassroots and Diversity Communication, General Motors
Mike Bonifer, who wrote GameChangers, talks about improvisation and how we as PR professionals can use it. And it's not the traditional sense of improvisation as you would think from a comedy routine. It's really about how you create a dialogue, and keep that dialogue going.
